Our weekend intensive with Malcolm Balk was enormously beneficial to all our vocal students at Dalhousie. After seeing him work with students at various levels of their development, it it obvious that Balk is not merely offering tricks for short-term gain, but a fundamental and holistic approach to body awareness and alignment which can have a profound and lasting effect on any performing artist. As a voice educator, I was gratifying to witness my students being given tools with which they could begin to integrate various technical and expressive aspects of singing and acting.
